Work to develop viable stockless rotations has been carried out in the UK by CWS Agriculture (Leake, 1999) and by ADAS (Cormack, 1999). Multispectral imagery has been used in precision agriculture for mapping crop growth and yield variability (Inman et al., 2008; Varvel et al., 1999; Yang and Everitt, 2002), characterizing soil spatial variability (Barnes et al., 2003), mapping water status (Cohen et al., 2017), and identifying crop pest infestations (Backoulou et al., 2015) and disease (Yang et al., 2016). Consideration of topography and prevailing wind in deciding locations and traffic flow for composting raw manure and storing finished compost can play a significant role in restricting the potential for pathogen movement on the farm. Conventional farming is still one of the most practiced farming methods because of its benefits to the producers and consumers, including availability and price. Waterlogging can also be minimized by management practices that improve infiltration such as conservation agriculture and planting systems that elevate the rooting zone above standing water such as raised bed planting. In 2005, the IFOAM approved a set of four principles to inspire the organic movement and to describe the purpose of organic agriculture to the wider world. Integrated pest management is not in conflict with GMs, because the careful tracking of pest populations, interventions scaled to potential losses, and a diverse suite of tools for response, which are typical of integrated approaches, can include GMs as part of the package.
